Every nervous system operates somewhere on a regulation spectrum. Our team works to identify where, why, and how to support a shift toward safety and progress.
Explosive, overwhelmed, panicked. The nervous system reads threat — even when there is none.
Calm, connected, focused, and open to learning. This is where meaningful daily life happens.
Withdrawn, foggy, low tone, difficult to motivate. The nervous system is under-activated.

"We truly cannot say enough good things about Sensory Therapy Place. Our son has been coming here for a while now... the progress he has made has been nothing short of incredible. The atmosphere is so calming the moment you walk in. It doesn't feel clinical or overwhelming. It feels safe."

"Mr. Earl is an incredible practitioner. Our son is ten with Down Syndrome and Autism and is considered non verbal. He absolutely LOVES coming to OT here. I feel like this is so much more than just OT — it's bodywork, which calms our boy's mind, body and spirit. We are so thankful that we found Sensory Therapy Place."

"Sensory Therapy Place has been a huge saving grace for our daughter. Each therapist we have encountered has taken their time learning, bonding, and building a relationship with her so she (and us) feel safe, secure, and confident. The progress and growth she's making is incredible to see."

"My daughter is an 8 year old with non-speaking autism and apraxia. After 9 months I can share a visual of how much she has changed. She has filled out because she's able to digest food and absorb nutrients... Every single person here is extremely kind, knowledgeable, and passionate about their work."

If the weighted blanket and trampoline breaks aren't helping, you may be starting on the wrong floor. Earl explains the bottom-up brain approach.
From the brainstem to behavior — how sensory integration therapy works, why touch matters, and what to expect in your child's first OT session.
Based on Winnie Dunn’s framework, identifying how your child processes sensory input is the first step in providing the right tools for emotional regulation and progress.
Needs more sensory input to register it. They might constantly touch things, chew on objects, or seem to never sit still. They use movement to stay regulated.
Under-registers input but doesn't actively seek it. They might seem checked out, miss cues, or have high pain tolerance. They need rich sensory environments to wake up the system.
Registers input very quickly and actively limits exposure. They might cover their ears, refuse certain clothing textures, or avoid crowded places to prevent overwhelm.
Highly sensitive to input but doesn't always know how to avoid it. They notice everything, get distracted easily, and can become dysregulated in busy environments.
